i always hate these posts as i want to give an honest opinion without offending ... so please take this in a good way and not that im trying to belittle your site.

1 - dont like the look, it seems very corperate and from the home page you really cant tell what the site is for. Bear in mind thaat your first page is the thing that needs to keep people on your site.
2 - Need more pictures on each page, no matter what site i look on i will always look through pictures then if they catch my eye i will read through to see what is offered. No pictures and a lot of text would not make me read through.
3 - the gallery looks like they are a bunch of pictures just thrown on a page, try to add captions or some general info ie where was the function, what was it for? not only will this give people more of an understanding of what you offer it will also make it better for google and your listing status.

Please take these comments in a good way wink.gif

Also ... lol

the items that you list on your home page look like links ... for birthdays, weddings etc. I tried clicking on them to see what is offered.

Hi Wayne,
agree with Damian- too corporate/not enough pictures.

Put yourself in your clients shoes - what would YOU want to see.

For me:
-Picture of the DJ
-Pictures of typical set-ups (I can see you have this)
-"normal" size font. The text on your site is a little too small.

Basically, you want a potential client to look at the site and think "I want some of that!". Currently, the non-descript images really don't work.

I spotted a typo on item 9 of your terms pdf.

Equipment - you don't say much.. Either provide a top-level description, or skip this page.
The gallery should tell them all they want to know, and if you get any ex-DJ's/Gear Geeks wanting details, they can simply ask.

Definitely add captions to the images. There are many Javascript image libraries that will do the "lightbox" effect, and the underlying HTML will be Search Engine friendly.
If you can add a description - ie "Wedding at the XYZ Hotel in ABC Town", so much the better.

I think we chatted via PM on DJU and via email about this- so good to see the site is 100x better than when you were using iFrames.

You should also add keywords & description and page title for each page. Ensure these details are relevant to the content on that page. Don't be tempted overload with "DJ, Mobile DJ, Mobile Disco" etc.
In your instance, the homepage could be titled "Mobile DJ in Mansfield Nottinghamshire" (or something equally descriptive).

I hope this helps. On a technical level, it looks fairly clean, but there are about 20 XHTML errors;
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://w...ine&group=0
Some are very simple fixes, i.e. a break should be <br /> and not <br>

Hope this helps!
Jason

Going to have to disagree a tad with Damian.
What I like...
Loads quickly and no flash....which will help with search engines.
Looks clean and professional....states clearly in the text on the right what you do.
Easy on the eye and easy to read
Love the copy....reads very well ....well written copy is one of my passions. I hate to see grammatical errors or spelling mistakes or negative speak (ie trashing other DJs to make yourself look good - rather than selling yourself and what you can do for them....which you did)

There are so many DJ sites out there that all look the same, bright jazzy colours, badly written, disorganised and unprofessional looking....this is none of those....so well done you and your web designer.

I do have a couple of ideas for improvement though. Damian picked up on a few valid points such as more pictures on each page.....piccies tell a tale of their own and many people look at those first. links on home page are not links....if you see what i mean. gallery needs organising and labels might help.
My own thoughts would be have a picture of yourself on the home page and 'the DJ' page.....people buy people and most people have more confidence in a company if they can see who they are dealing with. Pricing....far too cheap. Its a misconception that the cheaper you are the more gigs you'll get. Some people perceive price as quality.....so a DJ at £100 won't be as good as one at £400.....even if you are. Someone not far from me found that he couldn't get in a local 5 star hotel, although he got plenty of enquiries......until he raised his fee. Its important to charge what you're worth. I'm probably the second most expensive DJ in these parts....but I still win a lot of bookings over the cheaper guys (mind you I do work hard for my clients and strongly believe I earn that higher fee). You sound like you have a similar ethos to myself and are customer focused......people are willing to pay extra for that kind of service and certainly your website reads and gives the impression of higher class....then you spot the bit that says you''l do a disco/karaoke for £100. Hope that last bit wasn't too harsh....just trying to be helpful.

In summary.......love the style of your site.....its a breath of fresh air.

I wrote a newsletter not long back based on a survey of clients and what they thought and looked for in a DJ website. Click here to have a wee read.
