As I detailed on another thread, my brand new mixer, studiomaster fusion, failed miserably on its first outing. On the Monday I rang Images about it, having tested it at home to make sure it was definitely faulty and it wasn't me being blonde!
They said they would send a new one out that day and collect the faulty one at the same time. Brilliant...sorted.....or so i thought! Wrong...there's more.... Phone call on the Tuesday from Images saying they'd spoken to studiomaster to check whether it was a batch fault and studiomaster said that they never go wrong like that....it must be me! They wanted to see the mixer and check it themselves before issuing a replacement. So.... I rang studiomater direct who then changed the story. They said they wanted to see it first not because they didn't believe me but because they wanted to check I hadn't damaged it and they could repair it and sell it on. When checked they would then replace it.....so more time with a rack without a mixer. On thinking about it......I suspected that the replacement was likely to be a B grade and not a new one.....so I rang Images to say I was rejecting the product and wanted a refund. Courier woke me up this morning with replacement mixer from studiomaster. I sent it straight back. I'm now waiting on Images to get back to me.......do I accept a brand new one from Images (if they have one) or stick to having a refund? What should have been dead exciting having a brand new toy has turned into a nightmare. After spending £300 you don't expect to be in a position like this. Hopefully one of you guys that deal can probably put this into perspective. -------------------- YEEEEEEHAAAAA!!!!

I think the problem is that you have to try and understand it from the retailer's point of view.
I understand what you're saying but in my years of selling DJ equipment, you would not believe hw many times we went to "swap out" a product and then found on arrival that it had a pint of beer inside it. However, they should never send you a b-grade product unless you specifically purchased a b-grade - which you have not. My advice to you is to inspect the unit on arrival. Tell the courier that you are going to inspect it and insist that he waits for you to do so. Open the box and if the product looks brand new and well packaged then sign for it. If not - remove the product from the box and inspect it for scratches or marks (b-grade marks) and if it's pristine then accept it and sign for it. If not REFUSE IT telling him that the reason for refusal is that the item is not what you expected. Next, you need to do the following: 1) Call the retailer and tell them that you are completely refusing to accept the product. Ask for a full refund and demand that they collect the item. OR: If they refuse: 2) Call your credit card company and tell them that you would like to apply for a charge back. If you have purchased on your DEBIT card, a chargeback (option 2) is not possible (in most cases). -------------------- DFB Website Admin

Thanks for that Craig. This situation is still unresovled and I'm waiting on a phone call tomorrow. I've been without a main mixer this weekend but luckily I've got a good support network around me to bail me out. Must get it sorted for next weekend. Not only am I missing my new mixer, but my Vocopro, which is going to be my new back up is still (after a fortnight +) at the menders. I'm competing for the unlucky Alf award at the mo.

If you've not been able to find a Vocopro then give Warren a ring at Cookies and ask him about Vocopro, he was telling me yesterday about something that will be happening in a couple of months but best ask him yourself as I can't remember exactly what it was and don't want to get it wrong.

Thanks Andy. I've just spoken to Warren....and he may be able to get one....but he warned me that after care would be next to none.....or at the best very difficult. So I've gone for a newmark now through Images.....which to be fair they have pulled out the stops. -------------------- YEEEEEEHAAAAA!!!!

I bought the standard CM200 about 2 years ago for my second show and had the same problem, Ozz was a bit dismissive of it so I took the whole console to his shop and tried it with another CM200 and then tried them both out of my console with other kit in the shop and they hummed, we put an American Audio Q Span in and guess what...no hum so I said leave the American Audio in and have the Numark back. I still have that American Audio in my second console with no problems so far.
I believe that earth is a problem with the Numarks, I have been told they are difficult to PAT and lots of folk have earth loop hums. I tried earthing it straight to the earth pin on a plug top, to my central heating system pipework, earthing the various bits of kit to each other and mounting it on rubber washers and just about every trick in the book with no luck. There is a very deffinate whole in the market when it comes to a good DJ/karaoke mixer. -------------------- Andy

Apparently....they only hum because they don't know the words.
....my hum has gone. Turn off the vocal effects and the hum goes!!!! -------------------- YEEEEEEHAAAAA!!!!
