Well following on from what I said on George's intro thread...what do you think about offering the client Bronze, Silver and Gold services?

Personally I am dead against it. I have all kinds of kit from a little pair of ART10s...Bose PAS...RCF 3.5k rig and larger RCF and Ohm rigs, I have sheds full of lights and so on and I never talk about Bronze, Silver or Gold. Personally I think Bronze is a bit of an insult to a Bride when she knows you might be doing a Gold the next night. I price all jobs accordingly after a lengthy in depth consultation period with a prospective client. If they want lots of kit or a dance floor of course they are going to get charged more than if they want a single moon flower and a pair of active 12s on stands. If someone is getting a small show off me and only for 3 hours they will still get the same gold service off me.

I Sell it as a Standard Size Show Or a Massive Full stage show & 9 times out of 10 as Murial would sing about I manage to get the Big one out Xtra £100 for the Big 1 although It's a Long Set up & Take down and Also Requires a Roadie with me for the overheads and Bins Stairs etc.
Same as you Andy The Price Depends on the Hours Although January- March i do discount the Hours to try & get the Jobs.

Can't get my head round this packages mallarky based on amount of equipment. What if someone wanted a gold package....but realistaclly their venue doesn't suit? I've noticed a few packages on the net offering levels of service....ie for bronze you can't submit a playlist and have a meeting etc.

As far as I'm concerned all my clients get a gold standard from me....I don't do any less.

i dont do the bronze/silver/ gold but i do offer either a standard or roadshow setup. There is a small price difference but it comes down to minimalist rig ... or huge set up. Clients get the choice unless its for 200+ when i only quote for the roadshow. I find that some people want a small rig and others want the full works. By giving them the options that are applicable to their event they can then choose the type of set up they want.

Simples

The very approach I take smile.gif

I tend to look at the venue and the type of function and alter my setup accordingly.

Here's another thought. I did a survey a short while a go. One worry that many potential clients have is the dj playing the music that they want played at their event. If you are forcing a client to choose a gold package to be able to submit a playlist....it is very likely they will go to your competitor who happily accepts playlists as standard.

Talking to Brides and seeing what is going on on Wedding forums it would appear that most Brides like to be in control and DJs that will play their lists is certainly something that is a bit of a buzz with Brides at the moment.

I do "Ipod Wedding" hires, as soon as they say that they want there own music i tell them about the service, i then go to explain the advantages of having a DJ there but 9/10 they just want there own music. For me its alot easier, i would rather go and set up 3 rigs and colelct the following day than go out and do just one myself.

I dont agree with the different levels either. If the venue is larger ill use more equipment and charge them accordingly but with every client my service remains the same.
