Not sure if DFB hire them but they are worth trying and maybe they have one for sale at a resonable price. There are some very cheap ones about but I don't know how much you need to spend to get one that will do a fair job. They're brilliant for kids parties and I often use one for 'first dance' at a Wedding as it makes for nice photos...you have to be careful how you use them though and not make the floor too slippery...best when the floor is packed then they burst on the people not the floor.

You could use mine but by time you have travelled over here its just as good to buy one.

Andy,
From a legal perspective, how do you get around this when providing quotes and copies of T & C's to clients? Is there a section to say that if a client hires you with the machine, then you are not laible for any accidents etc?

Can I give you a call later? If so, whats the best number to get you on?

Cheers,

Wayne

01782 768291 is prob best, there are other numbers on the site.

I have never bothered with any special t&Cs but I guess I should really. Some PLI policies exclude bubble machines, I have the AMPDJ PLI via Royal Sun Alliance and its a good policy but TBH I haven't checked to see if it does exclude their use.

I do know a DJ that does a kind of fiddle with his, its something like he splits the invoice so he charges them £x for the disco and £x for the hire of the machine and the fluid that they use, they then work the machine themselves via a remote control...that way they are using it and responsable not him.

To be perfectly honest I have just used mine carefully, I always use the correct fluid, don't use it for too long at a time and use it mostly when the dance flor is full so not much of it gets to the floor. Proper fluid is supposed to evaporate when it hits the floor...I'm not saying it actually does that but it does appear to be better than the cheap stuff in so much as it doesn't soak the floor quite so much.

I was doing a kids party in a right grotty pub a couple of years ago and the landlady was a cow, she moaned about everything, there was no dance flor just carpet that was horrible, I knelt down to do the Yes/No game with the kids and I stuck to the carpet and when she moaned about the bubble machine I told her to pizz off as the carpet was now cleaner than it had been for years...never got any more work there biggrin.gif

Had to chesk with insurer recently for the AMPdj and it is covered as long as its used as part of the show. The correct wording of the reply can be viewed here.... http://www.mobiledj.info/dj_newsletter_issue_10.html its on the right hand side of the page, under member's question.

That's brilliant, not sure if its the norm nowadays but when I last checked some years ago when I was insured with MG it was excluded.
